Live Production and Technical Supervisor

We’re seeking a full-time Live Production and Technical Supervisor to join our small but dynamic team in Collinswood and help to lead an exciting phase of multi platform local TV for our community and content partners.

The Role 

We’re looking for someone with a passion for producing great screen content and a thorough technical knowledge of TV production, broadcast transmission, and streaming media and technologies. The Live Production and Technical Supervisor will provide technical supervision of our broadcast playout, streaming platform, and in-house and client productions, assisted by a small team of volunteers. The right candidate will be comfortable wearing different hats across multiple projects and productions and capable of working productively in a busy team environment.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience in TV/media production in a technical role.
  • Good understanding of broadcast transmission technologies.
  • Strong knowledge video production, including camera and lighting operation, editing and post-production workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of livestream production and technologies, including RTMP streaming integration with social media platforms.
  • Ability to be an active team player and supervise a small team of volunteers.
  • Ability to maintain knowledge of current industry standards, technologies and best practices.
  • Ability to maintain audio-visual equipment and develop technology plans.
  • Excellent organisational, planning and communication skills.
  • Good understanding of community broadcasting standards and codes of practice and community TV’s role in the Australian media landscape.

CTV Plus Content Manager

We’re seeking a 0.4 FTE Content Manager to manage live and on-demand content on CTV+, the home of community TV online. The Content Manager will manage content on behalf of platform partners C44 Adelaide and C31 Melbourne and Geelong and can be based in either Adelaide or Melbourne.

C31 Melbourne and Geelong is Victoria’s not-for-profit community television service providing locally based entertainment, education, and information. C31 provides access and representation to the many diverse communities within Victoria. You can find faces, voices and issues which are not present in mainstream television. We broadcast over 90 new locally made programs every week. These programs are produced by community television volunteers and independent television makers.

The Role

  • Upload new programs including video, images and meta data to the CTV+ platform on a regular weekly schedule or as new seasons occur.
  • Liaise with producers to receive video, images and meta data for their programs.
  • Upload and manage advertising campaigns to run as pre-roll and mid-roll ads on the platform.
  • Ensure functionality of the WordPress site and associated app and troubleshoot any issues.
  • Regularly rotate programs through the featured and trending sections of the platform to ensure even promotion of content.
  • Ensure C31 Melbourne and C44 Adelaide livestream broadcasts are always running and restart as required.
  • Develop social media posts to promote programs streaming on the CTV+ platform, ripple promotion through C31/C44 free-to-air TV broadcasts where appropriate.
  • Manage usability of the platform (website and app) and identify areas for user friendly improvements, implementing where possible or suggesting changes to external platform developers.
  • Analyse platform analytics and create reports.
  • Focus on SEO and continually improve structure and accessibility of platform.

Essential Criteria

  • Intermediate proficiency with WordPress
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (preferred but not required)
  • Understanding of best-practice SEO
  • Some experience with digital apps would be viewed favourably

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and be flexible under pressure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
