Staff Movements: Farewell Kristen, Welcome Chris

Recently the station said goodbye to one of our much respected staff members, Manager of Development & Strategy Kristen Hamill, who has moved on to a fantastic opportunity in corporate public affairs.

During her time at Channel 44, Kristen was responsible for greenlighting many productions and live streams, including two historic live-to-air broadcasts with the Catholic Archdiocese of Adelaide and the Greek Orthodox Church during Easter 2020. Kristen was also a fantastic mentor and champion to numerous interns and volunteers, some of who have gone on to paid positions in the industry. Kristen also acted in the General Manager role, filling in for Lauren when she was on maternity leave. During this period Kristen was responsible for advocating politically to help secure a further 12-month licence extension. From everyone at Channel 44, we wish Kristen all the best in her future endeavours.

As we say goodbye to one staff member, we warmly welcome Chris Leese to our team as our new Digital Strategy Manager. Chris is no stranger to community broadcasting. As the Station Manager of Radio Adelaide, Chris led the respected community broadcaster through its tumultuous 2016 rebirth as an independent station to establish it as Adelaide’s voice for arts, music and ideas. In four years, Chris raised nearly $650,000 in new fundraising and sponsorship, increased Radio Adelaide’s digital engagement by 200%, and created Podcast Works, an innovative podcast production service which produced series for the City of Adelaide, University of Adelaide, UniSA and Adelaide Central Market.
