The Adelaide Film Festival 2020 Has Launched!

The Adelaide Film Festival (AFF) officially kicked off for 2020 on Wednesday the 14th of October, marking the first of 54 debut screenings of feature films, short films and documentaries from over 40 countries around the world. With 22 world premieres and 27 Australian premieres, this year’s festival is bound to be a thrilling event!

With the festival’s inception in early 2003, the AFF has steadily developed into an enthralling and well-renowned event, with an audience of over 64,000 people throughout 2018’s occasion.

This year will see premieres in both cinemas across Adelaide and outdoor screenings in public areas. The event commenced with the simultaneous screening of a locally filmed science-fiction movie 2067 across seven Adelaide cinemas, which was followed by an overwhelming demand for more screenings of the film to be added to the festival’s program; an excellent start for 2020’s edition.

Other films and documentaries included in this year’s AFF schedule will take audiences on immersive journeys across the globe, such as When Pomegranates Howl from the streets of Afghanistan, or the Italian-filmed Apples, directed by Greek filmmaker Christos Nikou.

The AFF plans to end this year’s festival with the closing night gala Minari, the winner of both the Audience Award at Sundance and the Grand Jury Prize.

With plenty of features left to view during this year’s Adelaide Film Festival, don’t miss out on the opportunity to see these inspiring films!
