One of South Australia’s favourite bi-annual events is set to return this October with a bang. The Adelaide Film Festival released its full program last Wednesday (9th of September) to give fans a preview of this year’s line-up. 2020’s edition of the festival will run from 14th to the 25th of October.
Highly anticipated Adelaide sci-fi film, 2067, is set to headline the festival’s opening night gala. True to its name, the film is set in 2067 and depicts a post-apocalyptic world where climate change has destroyed earth, leaving people to survive on artificial oxygen. Led by a star-studded cast including, Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Road, X-Men Apocalypse), Ryan Kwanten (Mystery Road, True Blood) and Deborah Mailman (The Sapphires), director and writer Seth Larney portrays one man’s brave attempt to save the world and his dying wife by building a quantum time machine.

In addition to the festival’s grand opening night, the event’s first five films have been announced.
Premiering in Australia this spring, Another Round features Scandinavian superstar Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale) and Director Thomas Vinterberg (The Hunt), returning with a comedy about the joys of drinking life’s problems away.
