Over the long weekend, the world’s biggest roller derby tournament, The Great Southern Slam, took centre stage… well more like centre court.
We captured every bump and bruise on our Facebook page, live-streaming the entire Grand Finals day.
How does roller derby work, you say? Well, five women from either team go head to head, skating around the track, trying to bump and defend opposing players.
The sport is a crowd favourite, hundreds of people rolled out from around Adelaide and beyond to watch teams from across Australia compete.
Of course there can only be one winner. Congratulations to the Canberra Roller Derby League for taking out Division 1 and the bragging rights for this year’s Great Southern Slam.
